About
The Kanthé brand was born out of my passion for tea. Being a great tea lover, I wanted to shine a light on Africa, the continent of tea, and unveil the exceptional teas and infusions from African terroirs, which are little known to the general public.
Born in Guinea, I was raised on Kinkéliba, the national infusion. My love for tea dates back to my childhood when I lived with my grandmother. Every afternoon, we would prepare tea with friends at home. Two of us were assigned the task of buying the tea, sugar, peanuts, and charcoal to make the tea. As a reward, we were given the third infusion, as in Africa, the tea ceremony or tea time consists of three stages. It is said that the first infusion of tea is as bitter as death, the second as sweet as life, and the third as sugary as love. The first two infusions are reserved for men, while the third preparation is meant for women and children.
It was a moment I eagerly awaited each time! I quickly moved on to the second infusion, which was traditionally reserved for men. I loved its distinct taste, and my passion for tea has grown ever since!
Tea and its philosophy deeply resonate with my soul: I share its values of exchange, authenticity, and discovery. By creating my tea brand, I had the desire to introduce and share my findings, these lesser-known teas, with other tea enthusiasts.
Kanthé, "Kanté" like my own name, because I pour myself into each of my teas and to pay tribute to my African origins.
Welcome to the world of Kanthé!
